Our Transition Year students traveled to Athlone Institute of Technology as part of Engineers week.
Our first years ventured into the local Aughrane forest to explore the ancient ring fort as part of their geography and history courses.
Our Erasmus+ week concluded on Friday last after a very successful week. We thoroughly enjoyed the range of activities and events which took place to immerse ourselves into European culture through our theme of gender equality and inclusion. Hard Luck to the Junior Boys Rugby team who lost their final game of the season to a very strong St. Enda’s team from Galway. The final score was 31-14.
Today, Maria Walsh addressed our school on the importance of inclusion and equality. She also raised our rainbow flag outside the school. All of our students along with students and teachers from Belgium and Germany had an international breakfast where they sampled foods from each country. Well done to Transition Year student, Aimee Carty, who was one of 4 young people nominated to for an individual award at the recent award ceremony. Aimee has recently written and recorded the song “Tell me your story” which was inspired by a homeless teenager Aimee met in Galway city.
Well done to our Transition Year group who refereed the Connacht primary schools tag rugby festival. The maturity and positive attitude of our group were remarked upon by the Connacht Developmental Officers. A big thank you also to Creggs RFC for the use of their outstanding facilities.
Fundraiser for Crumlin Childrens Hospital The Leaving Cert LCVP Students organised a fund raising activity for Crumlin Childrens Hospital. They took all the 1st and 2nd Year students to the Mattie McDonagh Centre where they provided them with numerous fun activities. The students paid €3 to take part in the activities or €2 to watch. …
