We are thrilled to announce that we have been granted funding by Erasmus+ for our project entitled Social Inclusion and Gender Equality. Erasmus+ is the EU Programme that supports education, training, youth, and sport in Europe, thus improving student’s key competences, skills, and fostering partnerships between education and employment. In our school, this will involve a 3-way student exchange between Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar and 2 other co-ed secondary schools in Germany and Belgium. Coláiste Mhuire has a long-standing relationship, through many student exchanges, with St. Micheal’s School in Paderborn, thanks to the initiative of our German teacher Ms. Brigitte Casey. This year, Brigitte Casey and Fiona Mc Guinness have extended this European partnership to include RHIZO Lyceum OLV Vlaanderen in Flanders, Belgium. Ms. Casey, and her team, Fiona, Mary Higgins, Ailish Nolan and Laura Murray are currently collaborating on plans to bring these students to Ireland in Spring 2019. Coláiste Mhuire will have a Céad Míle Fáilte for our German and Belgian friends as they become part of our school for the week and learn about our customs and traditions. Our planned activities for the week will run under the theme of Social Inclusion and Gender Equality. We look forward to sharing the actions and events with you all! The following year a selection of our students will have the exciting opportunity to visit both Flanders, Belgium and Paderborn, Germany. Through this project the students of Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar will broaden their cultural and educational experience as European citizens We are excited to share our activities and events relating to our project so please check us out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/coláistemhuireballygar, and follow us on Twitter, @ColaisteM. We’ll be posting the latest on our project events and news.
