The students of Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar presented a wonderful array of culture in the school Assembly Hall on Fri. 20th Sept. as part of the town’s festivities. Upon entering the school the audience was greeted by L. C. students Cuisha King and Oisín Gately who kindly directed the guests towards the display of Art and Woodwork projects completed by the students under the tutelage of their teachers Ms Cuddy and Mr Madden. This was followed by a highly entertaining concert by the Music students. There is a wonderful array of talent in the school and this was evident in what the audience both saw and heard. A wide variety of music genres were performed including classical, pop, traditional Irish and country in addition to songs from the musicals. Vocalists included Tara Killilea, Zoe McGouran and Chloe-Belle Crehan and instrumentalists Ciara Coleman (keyboard), Claire Gacquin (violin), Eva Finneran (guitar), Shauna Carty (piano and tin whistle), Aimee Carty (violin and piano), Rachel Farrell (piano), Avena Traynor (piano), Sinéad Scott (guitar) and Chloe Coleman (guitar). Punctuating the music performances were poetry recitations by 3rd Year students Mollie Hannon and Oisín McDonnell-Killilea who are taught by Ms Cunniffe and Ms Beirne. Compere for the night was Music teacher Ms O’Shea who organised the event.
