An evening of music, song and poetry was staged by the very talented students of Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar on Culture Night. There was also an impressive exhibition of art work and woodwork projects. The paintings and drawings were produced by the students in art class under the expert guidance of their art teacher, Ms Cuddy while the woodwork projects were created by the students following the skilful direction of Mr Madden in his materials technology class.
The appreciative audience was highly entertained as the students performed many different genres of music including traditional Irish, folk, jazz, songs from musicals, pop and classical music, all part of Ms O’Shea’s music classes. These performances were interspersed with poetry recitations from the classes of Ms Cunniffe and Mr Fitzgerald. One could not be but impressed by the energy and infectious enthusiasm generated by each and every performer. The attentiveness of the audience further served to illustrate the spellbinding performances of our young but highly talented students. M.C. on the night was Ms O’Shea who also organised the event.
