Coláiste Mhuire is a lay, co-educational, voluntary Catholic Secondary School under the trusteeship of the local community. Our current enrolment is nearly 250 students coming from 12 feeder schools.
We boast an excellent Pastoral Care system and, in recent years, have concentrated our energies into developing our learning community’s Special Educational Needs structures. The cornerstone of our Code of Behaviour and the philosophy underpinning all school policy and procedures is the promotion of positive relationships school-wide. We pride ourselves on the fact that our school offers students quality teaching and learning in a spirit of care and understanding.
Coláiste Mhuire offers a wide and varied curriculum for both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate. We have mixed ability teaching at Junior Cycle with the exceptions of the curricular areas of English, Irish and Maths. Our small class sizes allow for greater attention to individual students. At Leaving Certificate, subject choices are led by student demand.
We run a successful Transition Year programme and our Post Leaving Certificate Course is a Carers and Special Needs Assisting Course. Additionally, we boast very high levels of progression to third level. We also offer a wide array of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Our school community enjoys strong partnerships with parents and have vibrant links with the local community, all of whom are committed to the continuing development of our school.
